The Park comprises an area of 114, 000m². Until the second half of the 20th century, it was the property of Lunardelli family. It was donated to the city in 1969. Among its attractions, there is a mansion where some Mayors lived. In 1991, it became an environmental preservation area, open to the public. It is named after environmentalist Chico Mendes, murdered in 1988.

The place has a Department of Environmental Education whose structures are from the beginning of the 20th century, true historic-cultural relics. It also has to two courts for sports; plant and bird; a lake with ducks, fish and turtles; an earthworm house; garden; a bandstand and a playground. It a very important park, since it has a great number of trees.

On November 13t 2006, a Japanese garden was inaugurated in Chico Mendes Park to celebrate the 30-year partnership between the cities of Osasco and Tsu.

The Projeto Equoterapia (Hippotherapy Project) is carried out at the park. It is a partnership with the city’s Department of Education in which approximately 100 people with special needs participate.
